Project Details

In association with MBB Architects:

Jamerson-Lewis Construction provided general contracting services for the renovation and expansion of the University of Virginia Center for Politics at the historic Montesano home on UVA’s North Grounds. The project added more than 5,000 square feet to the existing 4,700-square-foot structure and connected the new addition to the original historic home through a glass passage.

The expanded facility includes the Mike and Nancy Miller Commons, a flexible event and gathering space designed to accommodate classes, lectures, guest speakers, public programs and larger events. Additional project features include seminar rooms, a library, exhibit areas, video walls, live news tickers, campaign memorabilia displays and gathering spaces that support the Center’s mission of civic education, public dialogue and student engagement.

Designed by MBB Architects, the completed project blends the historic character of the existing Montesano home with modern academic, event and exhibit spaces built to serve students, faculty, visiting speakers and the broader community.
