Summer Internships at Jamerson-Lewis Construction
Internship Tracks
At Jamerson-Lewis Construction, we build more than buildings. We build careers. Our internship program gives students real, hands-on experience across every side of a construction company, from the jobsite to the office to the numbers behind the project. Whether you're just starting out or ready to take on more, there's a track built for where you are.
Internship Tracks
At Jamerson-Lewis Construction, our summer internship puts you in the middle of how buildings actually get built, from the ground up. We offer two tracks depending on your experience: Track 1 for interns building their foundation, and Track 2 for interns ready to take on real project ownership.
General Internship
Open to construction-related majors, sophomores through seniors. Over 12 weeks, you'll rotate through three sides of the business: the jobsite, the project management office, and estimating. By the end, you won't just know what a general contractor does. You'll have done it.
On-Site with a Superintendent
This is where the real learning happens. You'll work alongside the crew, not just watch from the trailer: coordinating subs and suppliers, pitching in on-site, and sitting in on progress meetings and inspections. Safety, quality, and problem-solving on the fly are all part of it.
Project Management
See how a project actually gets pulled off. You'll learn scheduling, budget management, and how to keep clients, subcontractors, and your team moving in the same direction.
Estimating
Get inside the numbers. Learn to read blueprints and specifications, build accurate cost estimates, and experience the real process of bid preparation and contract negotiation.
Project Engineer Internship
Open to students with at least one prior construction internship and strong references. Instead of rotating through departments, you'll be embedded on one project for the whole summer, working as a project engineer alongside our team.
This is real project engineer work, not observation. You'll track submittals and RFIs, coordinate with subcontractors, help manage project documentation, and support the Project Manager and Superintendent on the day-to-day decisions that keep a job on schedule and on budget. You'll be accountable for real deliverables on a real project.
Both Internships Offer:
- Housing Available
- Competitive Compensation
- Collaborative Team Culture
- Focused on Education, Training, and Technology
- Invested in Leadership and Personal Development
