Safety & Quality Control

An Award-Winning Team When it Comes to Safety & Quality Control

Safety

The importance of a safe working environment cannot be overemphasized

Safety in the workplace is a way of life for Jamerson-Lewis Construction. Our Safety Directors, Robb Foster and has instituted an aggressive safety agenda, which includes completion by each superintendent of a Job Safety Analysis at the beginning of every workday, in-house inspections, weekly jobsite safety meetings, and consistent safety training. Our key personnel are trained in First Aid & C.P.R. and all Superintendents have attended OSHA Safety and Health 30-Hour Courses sponsored by the Associated General Contractors of Virginia or other prevailing authorities. Jamerson-Lewis Construction’s safety policies are spelled out in detail in our safety manual. These policies are continually updated not only to comply with changes in the law but also to address accident causes and hazards as they are identified. Our program also requires all subcontractors to submit a copy of their company’s safety program.

We are proud of our safety record

Our safety statistics prove our program works…with incident rates below industry averages for our division. Jamerson-Lewis Construction is a founding member of the AGC of Virginia Safety Alliance, an organization that promotes workplace safety and health by establishing and maintaining an open forum with all members. Our membership consists of responsible general and subcontractors from across the Central Virginia Region.

Recognized for Our Award-Winning Safety

2023 VA BEST LEVEL 1 AWARD

Our safety goals are to:

  • Construct each of our projects with zero injuries and accidents
  • Have the most highly trained and safest employees in the industry

  • Protect life, limb and property

  • Eliminate liability risk to our clients, subcontractors and ourselves

Quality Control

Jamerson-Lewis Construction is committed to providing quality construction to our clients using the Quality Management (QM) process. Project quality control is an important component of our culture. Our Quality Assurance Director, Robb Foster, directs our QM program, which will ensure quality control standards are maintained for the duration of every project. In addition to training our staff, QM commitment from all subcontractors is also key to providing the highest quality work.

Key procedures of our QM program are:
  • Quality control expectations are communicated to subcontractors and material suppliers during the preconstruction phase.
  • Active QM measures are used during the construction phase to avoid the common “inspection then rejection” mode.
The goal of our QM program is to be proactive in regard to work quality with measurable results.
  • We believe that safety is a major component of successful QM.
  • We understand that QM is a continuous process and as a result, we continuously work to improve this process.

The QM Process

We believe our QM program is another tool which helps us deliver a finished product that meets or exceeds the owner’s expectations. The complete program is detailed in our QM manual.
