Amherst County High School 

Construction is well underway at Amherst County High School, where a major renovation and addition are transforming the learning environment. Designed by Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates, the project includes:

• A new two-story classroom addition with general education spaces, special education classrooms, and support areas
• Full renovation of the existing building, including updated finishes and MEP systems
• A complete auditorium overhaul, with new seating, lighting, and AV infrastructure
• Significant sitework, including a new bus loop, expanded parking, sidewalks, and improved stormwater systems

The work is being completed in phases to allow the school to stay operational throughout construction.

“Amherst has been a great learning experience. I’ve been able to track daily progress, sit in on coordination meetings, and get familiar with how things run on site. There’s a lot more that goes into a job like this than I realized, it’s helped me better understand how every piece connects, from schedule to subcontractor coordination to safety.”

Project Timeline

• Construction Start: July 2023
• Commons, Classrooms & Bathrooms Turned Over: November 2023
• New Parking Lot Complete: July 2024
• Auditorium Substantial Completion: June 2025
• Final Sitework + Remaining Interior Renovations: Through Summer 2025
• Substantial Completion: August 2025 (anticipated)
