Jamerson-Lewis Construction has been selected by the City of Lynchburg to build the new Miller Park Pool following a competitive bidding process.

For nearly 40 years, Miller Park Pool has been part of summer in Lynchburg. Generations of residents have learned to swim there, spent hot afternoons with family and friends, taken swim lessons and worked their first lifeguard jobs. Last summer alone, the pool averaged approximately 300 visitors each day.

As the City’s only public pool, Miller Park serves an important role in the community. For many Lynchburg families, it is not simply one recreation option among several. It is a place where the community gathers, where children learn to swim and where summer memories are made year after year.

Originally built in 1986, the existing pool had reached the end of its typical service life and was experiencing significant water loss due to leaks. Rather than continuing to repair the aging facility, the City chose to invest in a new pool designed to serve Lynchburg for decades to come. The project is supported by approximately $10.4 million through the City’s capital improvement program.

Designed by Timmons Group, the new Miller Park Pool reflects input gathered from Lynchburg residents about what they wanted to see in the next generation of the facility.

The new design will include 25- and 50-meter lap swim lanes, multiple water slides, a dedicated children’s play area with interactive water features, sloped-entry access for improved accessibility, and shaded seating and gathering areas for families.

Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026, with the new Miller Park Pool expected to welcome the community back for the 2027 summer season.
