Longwood University Student Recreation Center

New Construction

Project Details

Longwood University’s Student Recreation Center was the first LEED Gold Certified construction project in the state of Virginia for a university. This 80,000 square foot facility was constructed with energy efficiency and lower maintenance costs in mind. The facility includes a student health and activities center and custom-made, free-standing rock climbing wall that reaches 30 feet high.

An added value to the facility’s function is the three distinct fitness areas encircled by an eighth of a mile-walking track. Added square footage includes adequate space for fitness, basketball courts and a multi-purpose room complete with flooring able to withstand online skating activities. The facility also houses a dance studio and racquetball courts as well as the student health services.
