Lynchburg Riverfront Park Amphitheater

New Construction

Project Details

In Association with AECOM.

Jamerson-Lewis Construction served as the general contractor for the Lynchburg Riverfront Amphitheater, a transformational addition to the city’s downtown and a key piece of an $8 million revitalization of Riverfront Park. Designed to host concerts, festivals, and community events, the venue accommodates up to 5,000 attendees and is expected to attract approximately 75,000 visitors annually. Located along the James River, the amphitheater activates the waterfront and stands as a long-term investment in the city’s cultural and economic future.

The project included construction of a permanent performance stage, a flood-resistant restroom facility, a new ADA-accessible playground for children ages 5 to 12, and upgrades to the park’s lighting, landscaping, and walkways. These enhancements create a more welcoming, inclusive, and flexible space for a wide range of public programming. The project also featured a collaboration with Shickel Corporation, who fabricated the custom curved steel elements that define the amphitheater’s distinctive structure and visual identity.

Construction began in April 2024, with a formal groundbreaking ceremony held on April 18. The project was completed in Spring 2026 and celebrated with a ribbon cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of the Riverfront Amphitheater. Jamerson-Lewis Construction is proud to have delivered this important community project for the City of Lynchburg.
