Jamerson-Lewis Construction is serving as the general contractor for the Lynchburg Riverfront Amphitheater, a transformational addition to the city’s downtown and a key piece of an $8 million revitalization of Riverfront Park. Designed to host concerts, festivals, and community events, the venue will hold up to 5,000 attendees and is expected to attract around 75,000 visitors annually. Located along the James River, the amphitheater will help activate the waterfront and serve as a long-term investment in the city’s cultural and economic future.

The scope of work includes construction of a permanent performance stage, a flood-resistant restroom facility, a new ADA-accessible playground for children ages 5 to 12, and upgrades to the park’s lighting, landscaping, and walkways. These enhancements are designed to make the space more welcoming, inclusive, and usable for a wide range of public programming. The project also features a collaboration with Shickel Corporation, who is fabricating the custom curved steel elements that will define the amphitheater’s distinctive structure and visual identity.

Construction began in April 2024, with a formal groundbreaking ceremony held on April 18. Portions of the park are expected to open in phases to accommodate events and public use ahead of full project completion, which is anticipated in Spring 2026. Jamerson-Lewis Construction is proud to deliver this important community project for the City of Lynchburg.
