Jamerson-Lewis Construction, a full-service commercial contractor based in Lynchburg, Virginia, is seeking a Human Resources Manager.


SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Human Resources Manager shall be responsible for handling any/all personnel needs for the company. This person must be a self-motivated and professional individual with a high level of HR experience. The HR manager shall support a positive, healthy work environment and shall have an eagerness to improve the company in everything that they do.
The primary duties include partnering with JLC Team members to support employee engagement programs/plans, facilitating orientation, employee wellness, activity & training calendars, HR administrative duties, employee relations, onboarding / offboarding, maintaining integrity of Human Resources records, and implementing Employee Development plans.


REPORTS TO: The Human Resources Manager will report directly to our Controller/CFO.


TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Onboarding and orientation of New Hires including, but not limited to:
- Talent acquisition – as needed.
- Support in pre-screening applicants.
- Support interviewing and vetting of new employees.
- Performing reference checks on viable Applicants.
- Conducting In-Person Interviews if requested.
• Prepare New Hire training orientation schedules. Help prepare & implement training programs as needed for various positions within the company and maintain updated training records and processes.
• Support the employee HR portal maintenance including communications, employee profiles, photos, etc.
• Employee engagement and relations including employee relations investigations, counseling, etc.
• Employee and Special events support – coordination, planning, etc. Assist with coordination with specific Corporate Functions and all JLC special events.
• Manage and resolve complex team member relations issues as requested.
• Employee recognition programs, calendars, etc.
• Assist in keeping a pulse on employee morale, burnout, and retention.
• Filing Worker’s Compensation Claims with Hanover/carrier
• Communicating and providing follow-up information needed on any W/C claims (Bills, Dr’s notes, surgeries, work release dates, payments)
• Virginia Employment Commission & Unemployment claims support
• Partner and collaborate with various Team leaders related to the efficient execution of recurring business operations and continued implementation of process improvement; Help ensure policy enforcement with any department as requested.
• Offboarding of any employees as needed.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION

• Minimum of 5 years in a Human Resources management position
• Knowledge of best practices, regulatory compliance, i.e. labor laws, FMLA, FLSA, EEOC, etc.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
