Reports To: Vice President of Operations; Project Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Superintendent to lead on-site construction operations in Charlottesville, Virginia. As the on-site manager, you will be responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to specification. This includes supervising subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating schedules, leading and mentoring Jamerson-Lewis field personnel, and maintaining clear communication between the field and project management teams.
You will represent our company on the job site, helping to ensure Jamerson-Lewis delivers the best work for our clients in Charlottesville in alignment with our Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
Key Responsibilities
Direct daily field operations and coordinate labor, equipment, and materials.
Ensure work meets schedule, budget, quality, and safety targets.
Maintain daily reports, progress photos, and updated project documentation.
Enforce compliance with project documents and specifications.
Manage and direct items that Jamerson-Lewis self-performs to successful completion within budget.
Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
Monitor and mitigate site risks. Ensure a clean and secure job site.
Respond to emergencies and administer first aid and CPR as necessary.
Coordinate with the Safety Director to implement proactive safety practices.
Lead QA/QC efforts, including inspections, punch lists, and closeout requirements.
Ensure all work conforms to contract documents and applicable codes.
Facilitate testing, permitting, and final inspections with local authorities.
Supervise and coordinate all subcontractor and supplier activities.
Verify scope compliance and work quality.
Reject non-compliant work or materials when necessary.
Track job costs, approve timecards and invoices, and help manage budgets.
Assist with preparing change orders and monthly billing documentation.
Monitor site purchasing and prevent unnecessary expenditures.
Qualifications
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field
Preferred: LEED Accreditation or relevant trade certifications
Preferred: 7 years of commercial construction experience in Central Virginia or similar markets
Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in scheduling, documentation, and field coordination
Solid understanding of local building codes and permitting processes
Effective communicator with owners, architects, engineers, and field personnel
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, construction management software, and digital tools
